Customer Story: Meet Dee. After years of believing alcohol was the reward for hard work, Dee decided to challenge that mindset.
Tell us about yourself.
Hi, Dee here, a happy flag flyer of elta ego beverages who is a mum, wife, director of a media business and a lover of my two dogs Bear and Buddy. I love to discover ways to balance the busy and always try to advocate for wellness seekers and entrepreneurs doing great things for humans in this crazy busy world. Love to socialise and often explain that while I dont drink alcohol my personality does! A lover of social IRL connection and joining great ideas with great people.
What made you decide to reduce or stop drinking alcohol?
After too many well partied decades and a breast cancer diagnosis, I started to question the psychology behind my conditioned thinking that alcohol was a reward for hard work. The high demand work we do and the juggling of an 'always on' marketers lifestyle had me realising that alcohol was standing in my way of mental and physical recovery performance. A false economy of relaxing now but paying for a slow start in tomorrow's race I started to look at alternatives.
What have you found to be the biggest benefits of not drinking alcohol?
Waking up and being more of a joy to be around for my family. Making use of extra energy and maximising my hours to further benefit everyone around me and better quality connections.
We also are involved in a lot of automotive events and find that it is not ideal to combine alcohol with drive events. This is another great way to tick the refreshment box without feeling less bouji. Safety first.
What advice would you give to people who are "sober curious" or trying to cut back?
I would ask yourself, do I really love who I am and what am I trying to achieve with alcohol?
If it is a short mental break from life pressures there is so much more out there that doesnt take more from your health in the long run. Do the work and join the revolution don't be a sheep make health the new cool.
What role has Elta Ego played in your journey?
There's a lot of social pressure and shame placed around not drinking alcohol and it starts with the optical perception of your beverage in hand. Soft drinks open up dialogue for a lot of that. Having a cleverly disguised cocktail beverage either diffuses those conversations completey or diverts the conversation to a sophisticated debate as to the benefits of your beverage vs standard alcohol. It is a great upper edge on those conversations, giving us an identity of choice and personal improvement instead of missing out.
